Autoresponders (Infobots)
Autoresponders reply to incoming e-mail messages automatically. An autoresponder could be used to send "more information" to persons that send e-mail to a specific address, such as info@yourname.com. If you have ever sent an e-mail and received a reply within 5 minutes, you probably received a message automatically generated by an autoresponder.

Basic Java Chat Rooms
Chat rooms can be used for building customer help desks, multimedia conference rooms, sales counters, distance learning centers, and online communities. These rooms are capable of up to 20 users at one time. By password-protecting the directory of your chat room, you can limit access. Send instant messages too! The login page can even be customized.

CGI-Bin Access
CGI ("Common Gateway Inferface") refers to the computer programs running on a Web server that can be invoked from a WWW page at the browser. You are given your own CGI-bin in which you can install your own scripts.

ChiliSoft ASP
ASP (Active Server Pages) is an open, compile-free application environment that combines scripting, HTML, custom server components, and robust database publishing to create dynamic web-based business applications. ChiliSoft ASP is a platform-independent implementation of Active Server Pages (ASP), the standard for web applications.

The ChiliSoft ASP architecture is ideally suited for leveraging your in-house skills and making developers of every skill level productive. Plus, ChiliSoft ASP is fully extensible, allowing you to tie into everything from legacy systems to the newest Internet standards. ChiliSoft ASP allows you to leverage your existing skills, use your existing systems, thereby extending your investment in hardware and operating systems.

Included with our ASP is ChiliSoft SpicePack. This is a group of COM components (see list, below) that handle commonly-used Web application functionality. These components make it easy to send and receive e-mail and upload files from client browsers.

• ChiliMail 1.0:
  SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) COM object used to send e-mails from an ASP page to an e-mail server.

   

• ChiliPOP3 1.0:
  POP3 (Post Office Protocol) COM object used to retrieve e-mail from a mail server, using the same protocol used by most e-mail clients.

   

• ChiliUpload 1.0:
  Used to upload files from a client (typically a Web browser) to the server and then save these files to the server's file system.

Cron Jobs
Cron is the ability to run programs based on the system clock. We allow up to one operation per day on shared-hosting plans. Virtual Server customers can setup as many cron jobs as they like.

Domain Forwarding (Subhosts) (add-on feature)
You can have multiple domain names pointing to different subdirectories of your main account. This will allow you to subdivide your account. Subhost features include:

• Web-based control panel for managing the Subhost's POP e-mail account, redirects, and autoresponders

   

• URL Cloaking—the Subhost domain name remains in the address line of the browser

   

• 1 POP E-mail Account—subhostdomain@subhostdomain.com

   

• Catch-All E-mail—any e-mail sent to the Subhost domain name will automatically be forwarded to the Subhost's POP e-mail account or to any other e-mail address you specify!

   

• Unlimited E-mail Redirects—setup aliases to be forwarded to any e-mail address

E-mail Aliases
We have designed our networks to automatically capture any name that may be sent to your domain name. As long as you do not remove or modify the catch-all settings for your domain's e-mail, anything sent to @yourname.com will automatically be forwarded to your default account (yourdomain@yourdomain.com).

E-mail Redirects (Forwarding)
You can have your POP e-mail addresses with globalnetpromotions automatically forwarded to other e-mail addresses (i.e., have all e-mail sent to webmaster@yourname.com forwarded to your e-mail address with your Internet Service Provider such as AOL).

Error Logs
Error logs will list the errors that occur with a cgi script. The log is located in the home directory of your domain. This is useful for script installation and development.

FTP/Telnet (SSH) Access
SSH is a program that enables you to log into a remote host/terminal securely as though that terminal were attached directly to our server. From Telnet, you can perform advanced (and basic) features like compiling a program, archiving files, etc. Most likely, if you don't know what Telnet is, you don't need it. Most Telnet features (like CHMOD, which is used to change file permissions) can be done through FTP.

You will need to use a program supporting SSH to log into your server. If you are using a Windows environment, there’s a freeware program called “Putty” that you can download from http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/latest/putty.exe. If you are using a Mac, there’s a free program called “Nifty SSH” you can download from http://www.lysator.liu.se/~jonasw/freeware/niftyssh.

Within the program, make sure you select SSH. This will change the Port to 22. Your host name is your domain name (do not put "www" or "http://" in front of the domain name; just the domain name including the extension). Your login is the same as sent in your Welcome! e-mail.

FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is a simple method of uploading files from your computer to the globalnetpromotions server. WinSCP is a freeware FTP client for Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP using SSH (Secure Shell). If your plan does not include SSH, you can use a program like WS_FTP to upload/download files.

form2email and Cgiemail Forms
These are online forms that allow you to collect data from a visitor to the site. Once the visitor has submitted the form, the server will forward the data to an e-mail address specified by you.

Graphics Counter
Counters record the number of hits to your site. A graphical counter displays this information graphically. globalnetpromotions provides two types of graphical counters—one is a simple counter while the other includes various stats such as time and date of the visit and domains from which your visitor came.

Majordomo Listserver (on qualifying accounts)
Majordomo is a highly interactive, full featured program that allows everyone subscribed to the list to interact and post to the list. With Majordomo, list management is automated. Commands are sent to Majordomo via e-mail to handle all aspects of list maintenance. Once a list is setup, virtually all operations can be performed remotely. Each list can e-mail up to 1,500 mails per day.

Microsoft FrontPage
This is Microsoft's Web page editor. It requires you own the Frontpage software and have it installed on your PC. Though FrontPage does not completely disable regular cgi access, there will be a few scripts that will not work properly while this is in use.

There is no additional charge to have the extensions installed for your domain. Microsoft provides direct support for all FrontPage users.

Miva Empresa enables the server to run XML-based Miva Script, commerce processing and database. Miva Script applications running under Miva Empresa execute in a sandboxed data and runtime environment. The Miva Mall is designed to be a one-stop solution for a complete e-commerce center (online mall). It allows the flexibility to start small. You can add more stores as you need them. Miva Merchant is a browser-based Storefront and Catalog development tool that integrates cataloging, product maintenance, category management, shopping basket, order and credit card processing. You can build an online store with an unlimited number of products.

Miva Order is a fully Web-based order form and backend order processing system that can be personalized with specific color, graphics, product descriptions and other layout options. Businesses simply incorporate a link from the Web page(s) where their products are sold, permitting customers to seamlessly access the order form and make purchases.

Users are able to create and manage custom product order forms with provisions that simplify the process of calculating sales tax, shipping costs, and currency formatting.

MySQL is a true multi-user, multi-threaded SQL (Structured Query Language) database server. MySQL is a client/server implementation that consists of a server daemon mysqld and many different client programs/libraries.

Park Additional Domains (add-on feature)
Parking additional domains is having several virtual domains point to the same home page as your main account. There is a one-time setup fee for each parked domain. Many companies do this to protect their name. Keep in mind that this does not include any applicable domain registration fees.

Password-Protected Directories
When visitors try to access a password-protected page, they are prompted for a username and password. They cannot view this page unless they have a valid username and password.

PHP4
PHP4 is a third-party scripting engine. It may be access via all accounts control panel. To use PHP4 on your domain, your files need to end with .php rather than .html. For additional information on PHP4, please visit their Web site at http://www.php4.net.

PhpMyAdmin (on all accounts)
You can manage your database from your Web browser. You will be able to:

• create, copy, drop and alter tables
• delete, edit and add fields
• execute any SQL-statement, even batch-queries
• manage keys on fields
• load text files into tables
• create and read dumps of tables
• export data to CSV values

POP E-mail Accounts
POP stands for "Post Office Protocol" and is the method that e-mail programs, such as Eudora, Netscape Mail, Microsoft Exchange, etc., use to retrieve e-mail. Each POP account has its own unique login and password. Multiple POP accounts work well if you need e-mail addresses for several people within your organization.

Power Links
This script allows you to set up a page that visitors can add links to in specific categories. Newest links are added to the top of each category. A running total of the number of links present as well as the time when the last link was added is shown at the top of the page.

RealAudio/RealVideo
RealAudio/RealVideo is a client-server-based streaming media system for the Internet. Providers of news, entertainment, sports, and business content can create and deliver audio- and video-based multimedia through the Internet to audiences worldwide.

Our RealServer supports RealPix, RealText, SMIL and RTSP. RTSP (Real-Time Streaming Protocol) is a protocol developed by Real Networks. Just as File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is the best protocol for transferring large files, RTSP is the best protocol for streaming multimedia applications.

Referer Logs
This is an extended logging feature that will document where each visitor came from. You will know if they found you from a search engine, another Web site, link, etc. This is invaluable information when planning your site's marketing.

Secure Server Access (SSL)
A secure server allows users to collect data such as credit card information in a secure environment. Our secure server is run by Apache-SSL. Information submitted via a secure form is sent to the server in an encrypted mode. With shared access, you do not need to purchase your own certificate.

Server Side Includes (SSI)
SSI, or Server-Side Includes, allows the server to parse special page commands. For example, if you want a footer on all your pages which may change from time to time, you can create a text file with the desired footer information and place it in your domain. On the pages where the footer is to appear, you add a "simple include" to read that file and place it at the bottom of the desired pages.

SFE PageSearch
Another freeware script that we found hard to believe there was no licensing fees. This is a full-featured search script that performs its searches based on a prior index made of all the pages in the site. The script is very lightweight resource-wise and very fast at returning results and works with boolean logic.

Shopping Carts
Commerce.cgi 3.01 Shopping Cart
Commerce.cgi is a full shopping cart system complete with a browser-based store manager for adding, editing, and deleting products from your inventory. Pages are dynamically created from a flat file database. It also includes support for real-time credit card processing (ECHO, LinkPoint, AuthorizeNet, iTransact, and ePN), or you can choose offline order processing.

While there is no limit to the number of products you can setup, we recommend no more than 200. If you have more than 200 products, you should consider one of our Miva Merchant Plans.

That's An Order Shopping Cart
The That's An Order Shopping Cart will allow you to create a shopping cart of up to 25 products. You can setup sales tax rates, shipping rates based on cost per item or per sales amount, shipping types (FedEx, UPS, etc.) and define options such as sizes and colors. This shopping cart only supports offline order processing. Try out our demo.

Spam refers to any unsolicited e-mail. Spam filters allow you to block e-mail from known spammers.

Tcl
Tcl (Tool Command Language) is two things: a scripting language and an interpreter for the language which is designed to be easy to embed into other applications. As a language, it is much like UNIX shell languages. There is very little syntax, and it is easy to learn. It is used to glue together building blocks built in system programming languages like C, C++, and Java. These building blocks appear as commands, or verbs, in the script language. Traffic Allowance
Your total traffic allowance includes www and ftp usage. This is how many files may be viewed or downloaded from your domain. Each gigabyte of transfer is equal to approximately 85,000 hits! We monitor usage on a weekly basis; if it looks like you will exceed your allowance for the month, you are always notified ahead of time and given the opportunity to upgrade your allowance.

True Domain Name
When your account is set up, it will be only in your domain name. For example; if your domain name is fred.com, then any combination of fred.com, www.fred.com, http://fred.com, or http://www.fred.com will work in any Web browser.
